📖🚀 From Soft Release to Launch Day

Gaze Upon a Darkened Cloud - If You Dare!

From Amazon: Customers find TO GAZE UPON A DARKENED CLOUD deeply thought-provoking and thrilling, with a unique take on climate fiction that weaves together climate science. The story is intense and emotional, with characters that feel deeply human, and the pacing keeps readers engaged throughout. They appreciate how the narrative balances heart-pounding suspense with a sense of dread, making it a gripping and atmospheric read that feels eerily close to reality.

📖 Living in Milan, Italy, I have many Italian friends. They told me I had to read I KILL (Io Uccido) by Giorgio Faletti. As sad as my Italian is, I opted for the excellent English translation. I enjoyed the book and recommend it.

What stood out is the author’s ability to flesh out characters that live in a single chapter. I really felt drawn into the lives of the victims, like I knew them, and then felt for them when they were killed. That, more than the good serial killer story, made this a great read.

📺 It reminded me of an excellent Canadian TV police series called Flashpoint. If you’ve never seen it, I highly recommend you check it out. It follows a Toronto SRU team (like SWAT but prioritizing negotiation). As with I KILL, it excelled in making single-episode characters feel real and making me care about them. The acting is top-notch and the stories engaging. One of the best cop series out there.

Indie Spotlight

A free prelude to a series, this is a tale of space opera and cosmic adventure. The Ambassador of a mysterious and ancient family must forge a path through chaos to overcome the terrible enemies that desire humanity’s destruction.

Have you grabbed a free copy of KILLING TIME?

A murder investigation takes strange turns in this short as the suspect spins an unbelievable story. And that tale impacts detective Murphey in ways he will never be able to explain.

🤮 How to suck without knowing it 🙋🏻♂️ What I’m up to ✍🏼 Author resources Just write Yep, that’s the advice so many "experts" give us authors. They say it’s the best way to improve. Is it? 🧑🍳 If you suck at cooking and just keep cooking, you’ll likely improve a little. Trial & error can be a decent teacher. 🤔 But would you open a restaurant if you’re the only one who ever tasted your food and you consider it good? I think it’s true that writers improve by writing, but only so much. If no one...

Ciao! It's me.

Look, I totally get it—you’re only here 'cause you grabbed a free story. I really hope you had a blast reading it. And hey, maybe you even stumbled upon one of the other freebies I sent your way through this newsletter. Awesome. 👍🏼 Fun Fact: In Italian, "Ciao!" means "Hi" and "Bye." But the last thing you needed was another useless email cluttering your Inbox. Heck, you may have a filter or rule shoving me into oblivion, making this note moot. C’est la vie. (Did you say "la vie"? 😉) So feel...

📝 A note from this author 🫣 “Me” in my characters & stories 😘 Darkened Cloud launch price goes bye bye 🔓 A Personal Note: I don’t often share my personal losses and experiences. One October gave me the most unimaginable of these when my sons (12 & 13 at the time) and I lost the most amazing & loving wife and mother. We carried on and I’m proud of the men my sons have become. The thing about personal experiences, even the tragic ones, as a writer is how they shape my characters and stories....
